Zeulenroda Presstechnik christens “the fast August I”

Regardless of the difficult global political and resulting economic conditions, Zeulenroda Presstechnik has succeeded in diversifying its mechanical engineering business.

Almost all of the presses and forming systems on order are designed for the manufacture of sustainable and environmentally friendly products.

The foundation stone for this was laid three years ago when a complete production line for electric motor laminations was set up to convince future customers of the performance and future viability of the long-established Zeulenroda company. With this system, Zeulenroda Presstechnik built on earlier special press systems for the production of electric motors from the 1970s and 1980s. The entire team combined old and new knowledge in an outstanding, collaborative manner and opened the door to future-proof mechanical engineering in Zeulenroda.

All these efforts led to a major order from a well-known German premium car manufacturer for several large press lines at the beginning of last year.

In future, these systems will be used to produce the main components of the latest drive motor technology for electric vehicles.

In order to create the best possible start to in-house production together with the customer, Zeulenroda Presstechnik manufactured and fully assembled the complete production line for the electric motor sheets in its own halls.

The first high-speed punching line with a pressing force of 400 tons and an impressive length of 26 m has now been successfully completed and will be delivered to the customer in a few weeks. 120 tons of steel have been processed for this. Despite this enormous mass, the system moves up and down 300 times per minute! A perfect symbiosis of robustness and speed.

For an optimum overall system concept, Zeulenroda Presstechnik has also secured the support of a long-standing partner and companion. The company Automatic-Systeme DREHER GmbH from Sulz am Neckar complements the system with automation technology and a fully integrated SIEMENS hardware and software solution of the latest generation.

Acceptance of the system took place last week in the presence of the customer’s divisional board members, who were extremely satisfied with the result. Further systems have already been ordered.

To celebrate this milestone, the system was christened in a festive ceremony by the shareholder of Zeulenroda Presstechnik GmbH, Dr. Helmut Rothenberger. This symbolic act not only marks the end of an intensive development process, but also the beginning of a promising partnership between the companies involved. These systems and other promising projects are the result of many years of trust and support from the parent company Profiroll Technologies from Bad Düben, within the Dr. Helmut Rothenberger Holding, in the Zeulenroda site.
